Keating Five
McCain has been involved in politics a long time, and naturally some associations don’t always work out. Obama’s short “career” as a community organizer, teacher of legal theory, and political candidate have already resulted in wide array of unsavory characters that I wouldn’t want to have access to the White House front door. McCain, the self-proclaimed deregulator, has lately been trying to paint himself as anti Wall St. Nothing in his life until 10 days ago has supported his "populist" conversion. McCain did not disclose the trips (as he was required to under House rules) until the scandal broke in 1989. At that point, he paid Keating $13,433 for the flights.
McCain, who had been a less aggressive advocate for Mr. Keating than the others, was reprimanded only for “poor judgment” and was re-elected the next year. McCain wanted the auditors to let Lincoln continue making real estate loans without carrying out credit checks, a clear violation of the law. This is also the practice that has led to the current U.S. McCain was severely reprimanded by the Senate for a serious lapse in judgment. Of the Keating 5, McCain was by far the closest to Keating, received the most in campaign contributions, which he never returned, and was given numerous elaborate gifts.
McCain admits he hasn’t. That means he is not a Baptist, and only said it, thinking that's what "Baptist" people wanted to hear. McCain has nothing to fear from the so-called Keating Five scandal.
